congrats… I live in SW Michigan… Ive hunted them for the last 5 seasons with my hand cannon..aka 10 gauge. so this year im gonna add a little difficulty to it and take the mathews out. cant wait… good luck this spring…

Awesome, I myself have never bow hunted turkey, but I love to gun hunt them, I just turned 15 and got my third tom in May seven minutes before season ended in NY (11:53am May 31, 2009) Double bearded tom, He was very light only 16 pounds but one beard was 10 1/2 in. and the other was about 5, I’m getting em’ mounted.

well i take it back 25 prolly could. just it would be harder to considering loosin the arrow speed. and yea 15 at most 20 yds max

25 lbs is enough to kill any deer. In Michigan there is no minimum draw weight to hunt deer…a woman here in Michigan harvested 28 deer in her hunting career traditional style pulling just 30 lbs. i wouldn’t recommend shooting over 15 yards, but it is possible to kill and recover a deer pulling 25lbs.

25 lbs wouldn’t be enough to kill a small deer. but turkey yeah. id make it a head shot though. the legal limit for a bow to be able to shoot a deer is 45 lbs here in KY. 25 lbs the deer would be halfway across the state by time the arrow got there

haha….my first kill with a bow was a rabbit also…i didnt cry but my girlfriend at the time did….sure did taste good tho!

i think 25 lbs is enough to kill a turkey with the broadheads i am using quick and easy but if you try to body shot the bird it might not be. 25 lbs is enough to kill a large deer but i don’t know how quick and easy it would be.

They problem is that if the shot wasn’t good enough they could just be dazed from the shot and then regain composure and fly away. You don’t want to shoot them any more because it could waste the meat which would defeat the purpose of shooting it to begin with. Turkeys have spurs on their feet and i think that if you reached for their head they could spur you so i think thats why i use my foot instead.

i guess it might be faster….most turkey hunts on film wont show the turkey after the shot. they will wait until the bird is completely dead and then start filming again. i think maybe thats what we should do to. i have never shot a turkey that died instantly and there is always some flopping around after the shot…

i always do my best to make the most ethical kill i can. that’s why i ran up to it as fast as i could. i did not want it to fly off and to suffer any more than it already was. in theory those broadheads are supposed to take the head clean off eliminating any suffering but that’s the best case scenario.
