It’s not bad … a lotta walkin’, but it’s well worth it.

It’s great up there isn’t it … I love hunting that area.

this looks like an awesome spot. you set up in the morning, call in a tom, decide not to shoot. go to a new spot, call in another tom, can’t get a shot, let him walk. go to a third spot, call in another tom, and finally get one. thats awesome! there must be a lot of birds in that area.

i hunt near cooperstown.

Depends on what you have available … I always recomend a 12ga shotgun with Winchester HV Supreme # 6 shot and a Carlson’s Turkey Choke.

what gunn did you use what gun should i use for youth in coopers town do u go to state land?

It’s natural for a tom to display and have the hen come to him … that’s actually the way it normally happens in nature … that’s why they gobble … and that’s why if they gobble to much they will attract other hens and have them walk them away. More than anything, my most effective way is to use the terrain and make them look harder for you … then the first time you can see the bird, he’s in range … check out my “open woods gobbler” vid … great example .. Hey great hunt and nice bird. I have a question i havent been able to get the toms really to coe into my decoys they stay far off then walk back into the woods. Any suggestions.

i dont hunt to awful far from cooperstown…probably 40 min. or so…gl this coming season…oh and keepem coming!!

No worries bud … glad to help …If you can roost a bird at night that’s great … around here they don’t gobble much in the pm. In the morning … if I don’t know where they are, I use a locator to move in so I don’t bump them. But … if I know where they are, I move in, sit quiet and wait as long as possible before calling … let them do thier own thing and work off that.

another great info-packed video! Im thanking the turkey gods that I found U guys online. I have another question:When you have located the roost the night before and you have a pretty good idea where they’ll be at first light-is it better to call at dawn or wait until the birds wake and ansewer them back? I have a hundred of these questions and I hope I aint getting on your nerves! Thanks again! Western PA.

We had 4 – 5 come in … we had already let a nice longbeard go so we wanted to get something for the table … it’s all about the experience … not just the trophy … we love huntin’ NY.
