10d Hens and jakes can both have beards… did it have spurs of any sort? that is one way to tell… another would have been to look at the tail feathers… however i once shot a tom with a 12 in beard and no spurs… so look at the tail feathers if you still have them… and congrats on your first NE turkey… these were also my 1st NE turkeys

i got my first turkey yesturday in nebraska with shotgun it was awesome im 14 we cant tell if hen or jake but i wish we would know….5.5 in beard….that help?
