Nice work again Ted, thats some great advice and very useful tips.
I started using those string leeches a couple of years ago…and I would say just adding them to my bow must have quiet it down by atleast 25% or more.
Infact…the two guys in my hunting camp who were with me when I got my bow first set up with the Leeches, both ended up putting them on their bows too.

@TomahawkTerror Sometimes,but you gotta remember that game animals don’t get old by not paying attention to their surroundings.If they hear anything that doesn’t sound like it belongs in the woods,or something they’ve never heard before,they’re outta there.

@TomahawkTerror Silencing equipment.The rubber devices go into the string and on the prods of the crossbow and absorb the vibration from the string and thus lessen the noise of the shot.”Unsilenced” crossbows make more noise and spook the game before the bolt gets there,often resulting in a miss.

He forgot to mention Tennessee allows crossbow hunting during archery season.

I should look it up, but I figure ask people who would know, but what were those accessories he was putting on the bow and bowstrings?

@FSUNole05 Not even close son….The speed of sound is multiple times faster then any crossbow, thus, the sound of the shot arrives at the target location multiple times faster then does the bolt. Anything you can do to quiet down a crossbow or vertical bow, is a good thing.

i get to use my crossbow any season bow or riffle because i am disabled. but great to know that some places other ppl can too. nice tip on the silencers have to get some for next deer season. i have a barnet 150. i love it. it may be a cheap one but have had it for several years and it works great. should do a vid on it i guess.

no reason to put a a limbsaver or string silencer. by the time you shoot it will hit your target. Uncle Ted is wrong !!

Crossbow hunting is no different than hunting with a compound bow, with all the frills added to it. If your going to go past the stick and string and your instincts, and start adding cams, peepsights, triggers and scopes, then you just made it alot easier for yourself. I use a longbow but will use a crossbow this coming season. I suggest trying the whole realm of bowhunting and experience it all. It’s all about the experience.

A crossbow is a bow- it’s simply horizontal instead of vertical and offers a trigger mechanism. Most compound bow hunters also use a hand-held trigger mechanism by the way. State game fish commissions still regulate game harvesting to protect populations- to imply that using a crossbow during bow season will devastate game populations is simply ridiculous. A crossbow uses a bow string to launch a bolt (not an arrow)- comparing it more to a firearm than a traditional bow is equally ridiculous.

I do not think hunting with a crossbow is considered “bowhunting”. It doesn’t take as much skill as it takes to shoot a compound bow,recurve of longbow. Sure people will think that compound bows are much easier, but they arent. They are just easier to aim and are faster. Takes the same amount of skill and practice. Crossbows are too much like a firearm therefore it should be considered a firearm.
