the reason I clicked this video was the sample image.
I smoke a tobacco pipe (and work in a tobacconist) and my first day with my first pipe, I drew on it with my lips too tight and it sounded just like a duck call!

I thought someone else had found out my secret, but it’s been made public now!!

@kevinml1 KY has fall turkey season for archers til January, fall shotgun is only for 7 days in Oct and Dec.

i am from SC where fall turkey hunting is illegal. what states allow fall hunting?

Mr. Watkins shot a jake becouse that’s what came to the gun. In the fall season, hens are also legal to shoot. Most of the birds that respond to the calling are young birds looking for moma or company…. a jake is actually a trophy as opposed to a very young turkey… more meat on the bone

why did u shoot a jake?

Well, that’s a depends on how long your willing to sit there and enjoy the silent woods… If I don’t get response from turkey looking to flock up again, say in 30 minutes…. I’d move. But I’m not very patient. A busted flock is quickly looking to rejoin , specially the young birds…. they get very lonely alone, and are not used to it. So you should hear some calling back and forth as they try to regroup.

@seaduckhunt nice. so if you were going to move how long would you wait in an area before moving on and what would make you want to move? if you do move how do you know a bird isnt on its way and just being silent?

@oneraindog Dog broke the flock, called for 10 min.. then bird was shot… total time, maybe 15-20 minutes…. Not very long.
