Went hog hunting with the .280 Remington with 140gr Ballistic Tips. First pig runs about 20 yards behind the feeder, second hog is about a 200 yard shot freehand and is dropped…spine shot!

Mrsmelzbad – Sounds like a fun trip! I shot one with the .243 and it was a perfect hit, double lung, and we could never find that hog. I sold that gun less then a week later. Didn’t think it was a very good choice of caliber after that.
Unfortunately I have not trued the Barnes bullets. I am very fond of my Noslers!

shot a huge boar in TX back in 82-3, using dogs, had a 30-30, put first round thru heart at 20 yards, that ******* still put me up a tree…. first and last time I used that gun. Going piggin again next winter,… cant wait!…. nice vid BTW Have you tried barnes-x bullets in that 280?

A Hogs heart is located very low in its chest, and tight against the legs. That Ballistic Tip blew up and broke the leg. When we walked up on the Boar you could see inside the chest cavity fairly well.

Thank you, I have 11,000 acres in Texas im hunting this year and so I will be putting up some deer video both Archery and Rifle hunting. Last year we had a 178 BC taken off the property and the trailcam pictures look promising! September 27th can’t get here soon enough!

You are correct! Spine shot! It was an offhand shot at a little over 200 yards, so he hit the dirt and just started spinning

looks like the wind caught that last shot. If I am correct looks like you hit the last pigs spin toward the back of the legs.

yeah i have one. use it for deer hunting, hog hunting, and all my big game hunting. they are awsome any ways thanks for posting.
