Your brain is the first self defense weapon, then your hands, then maybe a pencil, maybe a stick, maybe a knife, , then a handgun, then a shotgun, then a rifle and so one depending on your skill level and budget, Skies the limit I guess lol. But your right. I answer the door or walk around outside my house with a concealed G26 in my pocket. Not a shotgun.

Have you fired it at night? I guessing you probably have, Most buckshot loads have a good deal of flash. Could temporarily blind yourself. Another thing, people assume that an intruder will always “break” in. They may very well just knock on the door. Or wait outside for the person to leave or come home. I choose to use a handgun so I can be armed, but not obviously armed when I answer the door.

Nice vid. I just bought a 88 Maverick this week. Love it. My duty issue is the Rem 870 with the 18.5 barrel. I like this Mav 88 better for the same reasons as you. The slide release is exactly where I want it. WHERE did you get the sling? I can’t find anyone that has one for the 88. Even on website they are out of stock on the sling w/o swivels. I need one badly.

@Themaxxization Almost any Mossberg 500 accessory will fit on a Mav88 except for a few parts. I would buy the heat shield and just take off the plastic sights or run them until they break off lol. Anything is possible with enough money but that sort of defeats the purpose of buying a Mav88 since its a budget shotgun. If you paid a gunsmith to silver soder on GRS on the barrel and drill tap rear GRS you might as well do it to a better shotgun? You know what I mean?

@mixflip I read the reviews on that heat shield… not interested in it anymore really, However you mentioned that there are metal GRS for this shotgun? Sorry I sound so childish, I was kind of told there were basically no accessories for the 88 maverick, then I saw yours and was like, DANG!

@Themaxxization I think it is a TacStar heat shield? The ghost ring sights **** for any real long shots but they do look cool? They are plastic and can snap off easily. I prefer the metal GRS much more.

What kind of Heat shield is that? and how much did it cost? THATS WHAT I NEED FOR MY 88, i love ghost ring sights, and i need a shield. I’d get the best of both worlds.

@rastwet Lol, its just a $199 shotgun. And if a ***** head or gang member chose my house to do a home invasion, I have a wife and 2 babies to protect and nothing stops an armed violent offender with one shot better than a shotgun loaded with 00-buck. A handgun or rifle might take several well placed shots to stop a threat. Btw bad guys like to rob people with money and people with money often live in the good neighborhoods. Plus I am a cop and a military veteran, what do you expect lol
