I like the Bear bows

Good question, but its one only you should answer. Most of the bows today are excellent and are so similar in things about all that is left really to decide on is how it fits and how comfortable it is for you and what you like. Opinions are just that, opinions and should not be taken as facts. Each person will like this or that about something and someone else will like something else. You as a person must find what you like so that you will trust enjoy the weapon you are using.

I, first off, am NOT an expert. I shoot bullets more often than arrows.

However, almost every compound bow on the market is better than bows of thirty years ago, and all of them effectively used will take game. You have already done some research, that is great. Now you have to go test some of them out if you can.

You should have a good idea of what bow fits you, your best draw length, brace height, and how much let off you are comfortable with. All other things being equal a harder cam with less let off will shoot a little faster. A smoother cam with more let off may shoot a little slower. Either way, with accurate technique and good arrows with sharp points you can kill an animal. From what I have heard Bowtech and Matthews are both quality brands.

Actually any single cam bow can do as well as another if you have the correct draw length, tune it properly, and select the correct arrow. If it is a status symbol for you buy the most expensive one and enjoy it. For me personally, I sold many Mathews bows while in the business, and found that most of them came with incorrect string and buss cable lengths which made them poor shooters. Any and all manufacturers create a working product or they would not sell them. Checking the correct set up on each and every one is a must. Good luck to you.

I wouldn’t shoot either one,matthews is complete junk and I don’t no much bout bowtech but I’ve heard they aren’t much better,your best betfor your money would be a bear or hoyt

my brother has recently bought the Z7 Xtreme Tactical from matthews inc. He’s had three in the past. He said the z7 is his favorite so far, although, he’s only had it for a few months and haven’t used it more than a couple times. It was quite expensive too, not sure how much exactly.
