@Thelonesniper101 no i am 14 and they are alot like shooting 223 out of an AR they realy have little recoil.

@Bavs42 no i have seen the prices on all of the rifles and it seems that the yugo are the most expencive followed by russian albanian and finaly the norinco some people think that the chrome lining makes a difference but it only makes it easey to clean.

My best shot with a Yugo SKS – a head-sized reactive plate at 400 yards. Yes…….400 yards. On that same day, I went 8-for-8 in a timed event, dropping 1/2 size silhouette targets at 200 and 300 yards (4 targets at each distance). Second time around I dropped all 8, but with 9 shots. I didn’t place at that event……but other shooters were standing around my Yugo during the lunch break The SKS is MUCH more accurate than an AK. That, + light recoil, makes this a fun rifle to shoot!

yugos (ones with nade lauchers) are not nicer, they lack the chrome lined bores that noricos have…. most sks people consider them the cheapest

Is the Russian SKS model the best?

no sootch ak47 didnt even take over until the 50s and even then soldiers were still using the sks until about the mid 60s yours was pre 1956 i have a post 56 the difference is from 56 to 66 te soviets were remodernizing them with grenade launchers and the sights for them and more commonly bayonets

can they run with a bunch of dirt in them like an ak can? is it a great mud gun? how do the 2 really compare to eachother?

@TenebraearumParvulus The Russian SKSs I’ve seen all had The Country of origin stamped into the left side of the receiver above the wood or on the forward part of the barrel

How can you tell if an SKS is Russian? I’m asking because my local gun shop might be selling real Russian SKS’s for 250 dollars.

would this be a good weapon for a beginner shooter purchasing his first rifle? I want something with a little more kick than a .22 but I don’t think I’m ready for a .30-06 yet
