I purchased a Pardner pump, 28″ vented ribbed barrel from wal-mart. I chopped the barrel down to 19″, reinstalled the bead sight, installed a #33 weaver scope mount, a $50 red dot 1×32 scope. 100 rounds through it this weekend. My shoulder is a little sore. Also added a weaver 2″ rail to the bottom of the fore end to mount a cheap green laser( $40). I paid $169 two weeks ago for the shotgun. Pretty sweet home defense gun for under $300 with ammo.

what kind of sling mounts did u get for ur gun? i have a pardner pump 1871 for hunting and cant find sling mounts any where for it!

@davism4a1 In hindsight, it was very late when i posted that comment. I probably meant “Clean them every time” rather than “Oil them every time”. But, other than that, you did not sound like a ****. You just expressed your opiniong. Yes, a pump action can go “neglected” (I prefer the term “unused”) for longer than a semiauto shotgun. I wanna get a 870 but im not sure which to get. I want a classic wood stock one but do they cost more than the polymer frame ones?

i just like that a mossberg doesnt pinch the **** out of my thumb in the loading gate, when loading, seems i can load one faster.

@millerusaf I have to disagree on this one, Miller. Shotguns are not so delicate that you have to oil them every time. That being said, a complete take down isn’t all that necessary in my opinion. Yes, oil the moving parts, yes, you should clean it. My HD shotgun gets a boresnake and RemOil every time I shoot it. That’s about it. I oil the action bars, then back to the bedside it goes.

@rey1933 its still an m870, just civilians drop the m since theyre lazy. being in the military we put an m in front of pretty much every gun… its just drilled in our heads.. not a big deal

i dont have a camera, but my fav is a mossberg 590a1… what i have is a hr protector cuz i found one at a local store for $145 so at that price i had to get it over the 590a1 lol.
