If you have hunting as a hobby , it can soon become an expensive hobby, with buying rifles, binoculars, accessories, hunting knives, getting outfitters consuming most of you money. No need to shun your hobby but look for options to reduce cost. One option to look for used rifles, which can be quite a bargain if done the right way.

A new rifle can cost you upwards of say $700 and it can up to $3000 generally. To slash this cost you need to find a dealer that carries used rifles. Make sure that dealer has the guarantee of the seller that the rifle has been put to gentle use. Most of the dealers will let you inspect the rifle before you buy it.

Once you are ready to get a used rifle, the make sure to check a few basic things which will tell you whether you are buying a good used rifle or a bad one. The first thing to check is the area around the firing pin. Remove the bolt and the check the area around the rifle bolt face. The area around the firing pin if eroded will tell you that the rifle has not been handled properly. Do not buy this rifle.

Another aspect to check is that the bolt is working fine. This, you can check by pulling it backward and slamming it forward really hard. The firing pin in a good rifle will never go off. Make sure that the grooves in the barrel are sharp and cut absolutely clean. There should be no rust in the guns bore.

You can check the guns online but the process to acquire the guns online is a bit lengthy and the entire process is mandate by law. The gun must be first shipped to a Federal Firearms License holder, who will inspect the gun and then release it to you. The FFL holder will charge small fees from you for his services.

Shop around carefully and you will definitely land a good deal, which will help keep you budget in check.

Getting cheap gun safes is the only option for some people. Safes are notoriously pricey, making buying a new one straight off the show room floor an impossibility for many. How can you buy gun safe without giving up an arm and a leg?

The truth is, if you buy a new safe, you can sometimes pay over five thousand dollars, in the most extreme instances. Even the cheapest often sell for over a thousand, just to give you an idea of the price range you can expect to be in with this market.

A cheap gun safe is most suited for your house, because it doesn’t need all the protective features that one stored at a business would. Remember, this might sound obvious, but it bears mentioning-not all the cheap gun safes on the market are of the same value.

Size affects the price, and certainly the smaller the safe, the less expensive it will be. If you are anything but an ardent gun owner, a small to medium size safe should suffice, unless you have an immense amount of guns you want to store. This will save you some money right there.

Additionally, buying a smaller safe might be better because you can often times take it on trips, and this is great if you are a hunter. You certainly can’t do this with larger safes. Also, smaller safes don’t need to be attached to the floor or wall of your home, since you can just hide them somewhere that nobody will find them.

However, remember not to buy a cheap gun safe that’s too confined, since you might buy more guns over time, particularly if you are a gun collector. Also, you might want to put your other high priced non gun related times in the safe as well.

Therefore, make sure you think ahead before you buy and determine what size is right for you. Get as small a safe as you safely can and this will help you save a lot of money.

Another way to save money is to get used gun safes. Sure it’s an obvious method, but why pay for new when you could easily get the same quality with a used one? Check your local paper, Craigslist, and other locations, and you very likely will pay a fraction of the new price tag for high quality cheap gun safes.

Turkeys are very alert animals. That’s why it is so difficult to bag them. If you want to bag a turkey the next time, be sure to get the right bow hunting blinds. They are so important because using the wrong blinds will get you blind sided.

Imagine using nylon bow hunting blinds with things like Velcro window closures etc. That’s the wrong thing to do because the nylon material is so noisy, the turkey will be long gone before you get a chance to shoot.

So what’s a good bow hunting blind? Choose bow hunting blinds that can “camouflage your movement” when drawing your bow. Use a portable bow hunting blind made of lightweight cloth for good results. This type of hunting blinds can easily and quickly be set up where ever you want them. And they are noiseless.

Many hunters don’t even know that they are making noises when moving around. The portable bow hunting blinds have plenty of openings and can hide movements. Portable blinds allow hunters to get a feel for how turkeys behave, so they can become acquainted with turkey’s natural movements.

You should set up larger bow hunting blinds in areas where the turkeys strut, feed, and roost. These larger blinds should be set up a couple of weeks before season. And it should be camouflaged with vegetation native to the area.

If you set up your hunting blinds only a few days in advance, it may still be ok. Turkeys normally will not notice it although it is better to be more prepared and set it much earlier. But where do you set up these blinds? It is a good idea to set them up near large bales of hay or near the center of a field, since turkeys like to be in such areas.

To save money, you can actually build your own portable, turkey hunting blinds. You can get lots of patterns online but it will take some time to do it yourself, of course. Building your own portable blinds will be relatively inexpensive and extremely effective too.

Just be sure to build one with at least 8 shooting ports. You should use a fabric like lightweight cotton, but just to be sure, check that it makes as little noise as possible when you rub it together or shake it. Note that it is equally important that your Bow hunting blind is as quiet as possible.

Lastly, try to make yourself more comfortable by using seat cushions. When you place your blind in just the right place , it will be much easier to remain still. That way, you will not scare the game away from your blind.

It may take hours for a turkey to finally come your way. You don’t want to throw this rare chance away by making noises that will scare the turkey away!
