Pig meat is a delicacy today but the course of religious history had a tendency to place a sacred ban on the eating of pork meat for bizarrely awkward reasons. However, when you do decide to go pig hunting in the wide and open wild there are a few secrets that will make life a whole lot simpler than it could be if you were an amateur or a beginner. Read on further to know a few secrets on hog hunting, it is the 21st century anyway, the days of liberalism and democracies are upon us.

The crafted art of a clean kill is something of a rarity in times like these when people are just trying to rush into a kill without the right technical skill. Never shoot at a wild pig or a hog when it is faced in your direction. You have to at least wait for the time it turns broadside, after which you must aim for the part above and behind the hog’s front leg. When you do it dutifully in this calculated manner you stand a very good chance of getting at its heart, one part of the body that will surely send it straight to the Pearly Gates, if at all there is something like that for animals. So make sure you go for a few vital organs since a pig on the loose is just as good as a canon on the loose.

The essence of carrying out a kill lies deep in tracking down an animal, otherwise what would be the point of going hunting in the first place? The tracks of a wild hog are circular in nature, pointed in the very front and the length and width of the paw will be the same in most cases. Also look out for trees with a stripped bark since hogs also enjoy scrapping against the barks of trees whenever they are on the move. Another thing to look out for are tunnels that go through thick bushes as these are distinct pathways for most migratory pigs that live in the wild.

Last of all, but not least, use a rifle that is at least above 30 calibers since a light calibre gun will not be able to pierce through its thick skin. Plus, never bother yourself with trying to kill a wild hog with a shotgun, which is just one thing that can potentially ruin your outdoor adventure activities. Pig hunting is very dangerous because wild boars can do extreme damage if they get to you, which is why you want to take them out from a distance. A shotgun is way too risky, unless you brought along some dogs to subdue the pig so you can get close to it.
